01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled within the Barnes & Noble at 25 Grand Corner Ave, Gaithersburg, MD, this Starbucks offers more than just your average coffee run—it’s a cherished local hub for coffee lovers and book enthusiasts alike. As a coffee shop, café, espresso bar, and coffee store all rolled into one, it perfectly blends convenience with a cozy atmosphere that invites you to linger.

What truly sets this Starbucks apart is its harmonious relationship with the bookstore, creating a warm, inviting space where you can sip expertly brewed espresso drinks while getting lost in the pages of a new read. Customers frequently praise the friendly and engaging baristas, who seem to cultivate a welcoming sense of community. One visitor, Expressionaire M, calls it “one of my favorite places to hang out” despite the crowd — a testament to the lively, vibrant energy that fills the space.

While seating can be limited due to the footprint inside Barnes & Noble—something Kiara M and others have noted—the environment still feels surprisingly spacious and comfortable. William Foreploopy highlights that it’s “pretty sizable considering it exists within the Barnes and Noble,” and commends the fast service and excellent ambiance that rivals other local Starbucks locations. The buzz here isn’t just about caffeine; it’s about connection, creativity, and slowing down in a busy world.

Beyond the classic coffee offerings, the dessert selection here is a real standout, as Timothy Hoffman points out. The pastries and treats are often better than those found in many local bakeries, adding an extra layer of indulgence to your visit. Imagine savoring a perfectly balanced latte alongside a delicate, flaky pastry while the quiet murmur of fellow patrons and pages turning fills the air. Even the most focused visitors find their plans pleasantly detoured—as S Fernando did by reading two books instead of just studying.

For those seeking a Starbucks experience that transcends the usual, this location provides a unique blend of quality, comfort, and community spirit. Whether you’re grabbing a morning pick-me-up, settling in for an afternoon of work or study, or simply craving a delicious sweet treat, this Starbucks at Gaithersburg’s Barnes & Noble transforms a routine coffee break into a memorable escape.

One of my favorite places to hang out. Although, it tends to get busy really quickly. Wish they'd add more tables and chairs.

I've been happy with this Barnes & Noble and the Starbucks inside consistently is well staffed with friendly people. Their dessert selection is outstanding! They always have a variety of beautiful treats that are often better than what I can find in local bakeries. It makes me look back to college days of hanging out in bookstores and browsing through something new while snacking on something delicious!

Unfortunate the people below have left poor reviews. My experience here has been amazing. Great environment, serving is fast. Pretty sizable considering it exists within the Barnes and Noble store. It definitely is a Starbucks. If anything, this place has way more than the other Starbucks' at the Rio.

I dont think you can use your sB app to order here because the coffee shop is actually a Barnes and Noble, but they do sell only starbucks coffee and have the full menu. They also have snacks and pastries
